16. All The President’s Men

The 1976 political thriller is based on the book written by two journalists who were investigating the Watergate scandal for The Washington Post.

It stars Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman in two rather memorable roles, but it was Jason Robards who won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

The Watergate scandal was the beginning of the end of his Presidency for President of the United States Richard Nixon.

Investigative journalists Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, who work for the Washington Post, began investigating for a story that only seemed to get bigger the more they looked. The National Democratic Party Headquarters, housed in the Watergate Building, was broken into by five men on June 17, 1972.

Woodward and Bernstein were assigned the break-in story, and not much was expected out of the investigation. They quickly learn that the five men have very high powered lawyers and they get suspicious that something is up. They find a source, the infamous “Deep Throat”, who was identified many years later as Deputy Director of the FBI Mark Felt.
