20. Troy – Crew on Radio as Trojan Horse Appears

Adapting a classic story to the big screen always comes with an element of risk.

Anyone who’s read Homer’s work will have their own thoughts about how the story of the Trojan prince should be brought to life.

The 2004 film adaptation pleased many critics, but was let down by several studio errors.

A member of the crew seen talking into a radio as the Trojan Horse is dragged into the city of Troy is one of the most memorable mistakes. Stuntmen wearing modern day clothes make several appearances.

Shadows cast by crew and reflections of cameras can be seen frequently during “Troy.” Rubber dummies used to represent dead bodies make a couple of scenes look comical. The dummies appear to sit up as members of the cast run over them.

Many critics felt that “Troy” was too long, and that plot was sacrificed for extended battle scenes. Brad Pitt is said to have spent months researching and preparing for the role of Achilles, but some critics thought he was the wrong choice of actor.

The fight scenes in “Troy” used real people rather than CGI effects, and this added to the impact of the movie.

Unfortunately, Brad Pitt looks like something out of the Matrix at times as he appears to defy gravity as he fights.
