The classic horror was released way back in 1984 and gave an entire generation many sleepless nights. The movie marked the acting debut of Johnny Depp.
The future megastar accompanied a friend to an audition for the film and caught the eye of director Wes Craven. After reading for the part, Depp was hired on the spot.
Depp’s friend who was also trying out for the part was none other than Jackie Earl Haley who went on to land the part of Freddie in the 2010 remake. Heather Lagenkamp who played the role of Nancy Thompson had to beat off some stiff competition for her part.

Actresses including Demi Moore, Courtney Cox, Tracey Gold and Jennifer Grey were just a few of over 200 actresses who came in and read for the part.
