10. Joe Versus the Volcano (1990)

“Joe Versus the Volcano” would be one of the last films released before Tom Hanks would become an international sensation.
Just a few years later he won two consecutive Academy Awards for Best Actor for his roles in “Philadelphia” and “Forrest Gump” in 1993 and 1994, respectively.
He’s been hugely successful ever since. After being told he has only six months to live due to a rare disease known as a brain cloud, Hanks decides to begin living his life to the fullest. He is approached by an extremely wealthy industrialist who offers Hanks an unlimited amount of money to enjoy his final months on earth.
However, the catch is that Hanks must agree to become a human sacrifice and throw himself into a volcano on a tiny Pacific island. With nothing to lose, Hanks agrees and embarks on an adventure that shows him the true meaning of life and love.
