However, it received a poor reception not only at the box office, but from critics, as well.
Perhaps parts of the film were a little far-fetched, but it was meant to be slightly comedic.
Some believe that the reason the film was so poorly received was because the film wasn’t what audiences and critics were expecting, so the difference between their expectations and the film is what caused the poor reviews and reception rather than the quality of the film.
The premise of the film is the R.I.P.D. is a division of the police department that recruits officers who have passed away. When Nick Walker is killed by his renegade partner after Nick tries to do the right thing and return gold with his partner stole he’s recruited into the R.I.P.D. to help catch criminals who have passed on and become deadoes.
Nick goes on to not only catch other criminals but vanquish his partner who killed him and bring justice to himself and others. While many are still fans of the film, for critics and the general audience this movie was dead on arrival.
