Although the whole story was based on a play, many people soon forgot that fact as the show’s popularity won over television viewers much like it did with movie-goers just a couple of year prior to its small-screen premiere.
Art Carney and Dean Martin (later replaced by Tony Randall) perfectly defined the “odd couple” stereotype, a story of different people that transcends all time barriers.
However, the show eventually failed to find an audience and it got canceled after five years, which is not that bad when you think about the general life-span of television shows. In the end, it all comes down to the chemistry between the actors who play Oscar and Felix.
