As bizarre as it sounds, sea creatures that play human sports have been featured in enough movies that they constitute a genre in and of themselves.
Also referred to as Sea Life Sports movies, these films use mutant sea creatures as its cast to play various human sports in different positions, including a giant crab playing a soccer goalkeeper in Kani Goalkeeper or a giant Calamari playing a wrestler, in, you guessed it, The Calamari Wrestler.
Sea life sports movies originated in Japan in the 1950s, with the most notable director being Minoru Kawasaki, although the genre did make it to Europe, with the film Crust (2003) featuring a boxing shrimp, produced in the UK, and directed by Mark Locke.
