About some 12 years ago you simply couldn’t say the name Adam Sandler and not think about not-so-funny comedy movies which somehow managed to gross millions of dollars at the box office despite being nothing short of mediocre.
However, all this changed back in 2002 when film buffs bumped into a different, new Adam Sandler in “Punch-Drunk Love,” a dramatic romance directed and written by Paul Thomas Anderson.
It appears that Anderson managed to see something in Adam that no one had seen before.
Even though this movie does have some ha-ha moments, the majority of the story and its characters are cloaked in some pretty dark drama. Sandler portrays an emotionally-disturbed bipolar businessman with a heart of gold who does his best to love and protect the love of his life.
