The sinking of the Titanic served as fodder for many great movies such as “The Unsinkable Molly Brown” and “A Night to Remember”, but this snore-fest isn’t one of them.
“Titanic” showed the world just how much money Hollywood has to play with when it comes to making its productions and the amount that the public are willing to hand over in exchange for a few hours entertainment.
With a record breaking budget of £200 million, the disaster epic has grossed almost $2.2 billion since the release of the 3D version. Director James Cameron even invested some of his own money in travelling to the actual wreck of the Titanic to shoot the opening scenes and then built an enormous replica of the doomed ship in Mexico.
With so much invested in the film, it would have been nice to devote more time to the actual tragedy itself than the tired love story between the beautiful high-society girl and a poor yet devastatingly handsome young man.
The movies central theme of “money can’t buy love” is all the more ridiculous when considering just how much went in to creating this one film.
