Solving of the main murder mystery is weaved with complicated and interesting conversations on philosophical concepts and constant questioning of our purpose in this millisecond of universe.
However, the second season managed to ruin this as well.
All those thought-provoking conversations boiled down to mediocre, mild and easily-digestible lines which pretty much dance on the borderline of masked pretentiousness. This crucial aspect of the show is transparently artificial and sometimes even unintentionally comical.
Time was a flat circle in Rust Cohle’s universe. The discourse in season 2 is just flat. Sorry.
