9. Eric Stoltz
It was speculated at the time that the extensive makeup and prosthetics used to transform Eric Stoltz’ into Roy “Rocky” Dennis, a real boy born with a rare genetic disorder resulting in severe facial deformities, in 1985’s Mask was so good, that the film’s own cast and crew didn’t recognize the young actor once he was out of it.
Maybe that’s just a story, maybe it isn’t, who knows? But one thing we surely know is that Stoltz’s performance definitely deserved the golden statue, along with all of those people who made the mask so realistic.
