Dustin Hoffman was known in Hollywood as somebody you’d hire if you wanted to pursue a “difficult working relationship” for a really long time, probably until someone more difficult came along.
But the legendary actor isn’t really bothered by that reputation. In fact, he’s admitted that he thinks it holds some truth.
His reputation is a result of the dedication he would hold to each and every role, to the point at which he drove everyone around him completely bonkers.
He once said: “Difficult? Or meticulous? Maybe they are one in the same.” His biggest meltdown was on the set of Tootsie, when he and director Sydney Pollack clashed over who had the most creative control.
