6. Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)

This legendary sci-fi action thriller was written, produced and directed by James Cameron, is the first sequel to the 1984 film “The Terminator,” and just like The Godfather II, is a piece that can magnificently stand on its own.

“Terminator 2” follows Sarah Connor and her ten-year-old son John as they are pursued by a new and more advanced Terminator T-1000, who has been sent back in time to kill John Connor and prevent him from becoming the leader of the human resistance.

The less advanced Terminator is also sent back in time in order to protect John.

The movie provides us with a trendsetting and original story, alongside the extraordinary use of visual effects, which earned the team an Oscar.

Only the famous T-1000 morphing sequence cost over $5 million and took eight months to shoot. Terminator 2 definitely broke all the cinematographic boundaries of the time and is a must-see.
