7. Schindler’s List (1993)

This historical drama, directed and co-produced by Steven Spielberg and scripted by Steven Zaillian, is based on the novel “Schindler’s Ark” by Thomas Keneally, and though “Schindler’s List” is described as a film about the Holocaust, it is much, much more.

The film is really a parallel character study of two minds. One of a con man, the other of a psychopath. Oskar Schindler swindles the Third Reich, while Amon Goeth embodies a pure evil mind created by the opportunities of war.

Spielberg approached the Holocaust from a different angle and even managed to find the way to resist evil in the most fearsome of times.

“Schindler’s List” is widely acclaimed as a remarkable achievement by film critics and audiences. In fact, notable Americans such as talk show host Oprah Winfrey and President Bill Clinton urged their countrymen to see it.

Well, if Oprah says it’s a must-see, then it’s a must-see.
