Born in Oxfordshire, England to two American parents, Wentworth Miller’s life has taken him around the globe. At the age of one his family returned to the United States and took up residence in Park Slope, Brooklyn, New York.

Now 41 years old, Miller moved to Los Angeles in 1995 at the age of 23 to pursue a career as an actor. Much like many other actors, his career started out filled with minor roles and bit parts in television series.

His first TV appearance came on the series Buffy the Vampire Slayer in 1998. He followed that up with a starring role in 2002 in the ABC miniseries Dinotopia. He also had minor film roles in The Human Stain (2003) and Underworld (2003).

It was not until he was cast as Michael Scofield on the Fox drama Prison Break that he would gain wider acclaim and recognition. His role on that series garnered a nomination for a 2005 Golden Globe award for Best Actor in a Dramatic Series.

Miller has been open with his struggles regarding his sexual orientation. He admitted to multiple suicide attempts as a teenager and struggles early in Hollywood as a closeted actor. In a 2007 interview with InStyle magazine he denied that he was gay, but publicly acknowledged his orientation in a letter posted to the GLAAD website in August 2013.

He used the forum to speak out about the treatment of gay and lesbian citizens of Russia by their government and acknowledged at the same time his sexual orientation.
