MacGruber

12. MacGruber

“MacGruber” is a film based on the Saturday Night Live sketch of the same name. The Saturday Night Live sketches starred a character that was a thinly veiled parody of the classic television character MacGuyver.

MacGruber is a man who was once at the top of his game. He worked for the American government and stopped terrorism all over the world.

The movie picks up years after he’s been considered to be “past his prime.” He’s called out of retirement when an old adversary reappears.

The adversary, played by Val Kilmer, also happens to be the man who killed MacGruber’s wife. Will Forte stars as MacGruber and he drives the humor.

For fans of SNL, this is a must-see film in spite of the fact that it received some mixed reviews. Of course, the inane premise, that MacGruber must protect Washington D.C., is funny in itself giving the nature of the character, but mishaps are abound and will generate plenty of fun for viewers.
