The film was actually removed from distribution in the UK after death threats followed by media storms.
Nowadays is available, but its stunning demonstration of violence still shocks the viewers worldwide.
The story follows Alex (played by Malcolm MacDowell), the main character, a charismatic, sociopathic delinquent whose interests include classical music, rape, and “ultra-violence”, and we witness the horrific crime spree of his gang, along with his capture, and attempted rehabilitation via controversial psychological conditioning.
However, the toughest scenes to watch are probably the ones of Alex’s enforced indoctrination where we see wide-eyed close-ups of MacDowell’s contorted face expressions which will confuse even the toughest viewers.
However, you can always choose not to watch it, for “when a man cannot choose, he ceases to be a man.” But, trust me, watch it. You won’t be sorry.
