In her memoirs she admits that she attended 13 different schools from age 5 to 18, and was a victim of both neglect and abuse.
She says she was only 7 years old when she first started feeling alone and depressed. Little Ashley apparently felt like she was forgotten and had no one to turn to. She was also exposed to inappropriate family fights and she witnessed rampant drug and alcohol abuse.
To top all this, Ashley also had to deal with and fend off various sexual predators while she was a teenager.
