Geena Davis was at the peak of career in 1993 when she married director Renny Harlin, who was also doing pretty well in the industry.

And while most (good) marriages give the spouses the much needed boost and support, this marriage resulted in one of the most idiotic movies ever made. Their marriage didn’t quite last either.

Davis, an A-lister at the time, with critically acclaimed success for A League of Their Own and Beetlejuice, starred in her then-husband’s big budget, pumped-up movie Cutthroat Island.

Not only was it horrible, it brought upon the bankruptcy of Carolco Pictures and almost destroyed the good name of Geena Davis for all eternity. Thank God for Thelma And Loiuse.
