“Superman IV: The Quest for Peace” features Reeve as Superman battling the evil Nuclear Man – famous for being one of the worst villains of all time.
Late in the movie, Nuclear Man takes female lead Lacy into space. Logically, she should be able to breath due to being so close to Nuclear Man.
However, he drops her at one point, and it takes Superman a few seconds to catch her. She should instantly asphyxiate and freeze to death in the vacuum of space.
“Superman IV: The Quest for Peace” was a huge flop compared to the phenomenal success of the first three movies. Even actor Christopher Reeve regretted his involvement despite the fact that he co-wrote the story. The movie suffered from a shortage of cash flow after its budget was slashed from $36 million to $17 million.
This led to the producers having to shoot the movie in London as New York was far too expensive. Several UK license plates can be seen on vehicles in the background during several scenes. During the flight scenes, wires can clearly be seen attached to the actor’s belts which proved to be the final straw for disgruntled movie fans.
