It followed the Shannon family as they traveled back in time into a parallel universe to an Earth that was prehistoric and foreign.
The plot took on an environmentalist feel at times, since the theme of the show revolves around the idea of the earth as we know it had become corrupt and littered with poor air quality and unlivable conditions which ostensibly arose because of humanity’s treatment of the planet.
Scientists found a rift that would lead people to another Earth in an alternate dimension. This earth was set in prehistoric times, presenting all new challenges for the inhabitants.
While the plot sometimes became confusing and the science may have been hard to follow, the overall idea of the show mixed with the action and character development made a very enjoyable to watch for all audiences. Unfortunately, the powers that be in the entertainment industry did not feel the same way.
