10. Soul Plane (2004)
Or maybe you would, at least if you don’t want to live with the regret of having wasted 90 minutes of your life that you’ll never get back.
After all, when you have a cast that includes Snoop Dogg, Tom Arnold, Method Man, and Kevin Hart, you really should know better.
The setup involves Hart getting his butt stuck in an airplane toilet, which somehow causes his dog to get sucked through a jet engine. And after he successfully sues the airline for $100 million, he decides to start his own airline, catering to hip-hop culture and African Americans.
Somehow, there’s not supposed to be anything wrong with establishing the “Malcolm X” terminal or outfitting a plane with low-rider hydraulics. Who couple possibly find that offensive?
What follows is a series of unfunny escapades that rely heavily on sex, venereal disease, and mostly, racial stereotyping.
Parodies of serious movies can be fun, if they’re done correctly. Parodies of parody films, on the other hand, are doomed before they ever hit the big screen. Such is the case with “Soul Plane.” Unless you have a deep love for hip-hop culture and don’t mind awkward racial stereotypes, it’s a good idea to give this movie a miss.
