Apparently unsatisfied with the level of insipid shenanigans he could get away with on MTV (a channel that is, of course, well-known for its well-crafted programming), Green somehow got the thumbs up to create this pointless pile of sheer awfulness.
If your inner 12 year old craves disgusting antics masquerading as humor, you might want to give this a shot.
Chances are, though, even the most juvenile movie goer won’t be able to stand 89 minutes of gross-out gags and Green’s relentless insistence that bodily functions and F-bombs are hilarious.
The half-hearted attempt at a storyline involves an aspiring cartoonist, played by Green, attempting to become successful. After much failure, he inexplicably achieves success in Hollywood, after which he kidnaps his father and takes him to Pakistan. Four years later, he and his father return home to an adoring crowd.
Of course, the focus isn’t on the plot. It’s on Green’s signature blend of stupidity and offensiveness. Critics almost universally flogged the movie as vapid, pointless, and devoid of humor value.
“Freddie Got Fingered” barely made back its $14 million budget in theaters, although it has done considerably better in DVD sales. In all likelihood, this is because pre-teens can’t drive to movie theaters.
