After Roberto Orci officially stated he was no longer attached as director for the next Star Trek movie, and with no replacement currently in stock, the fans implored Paramount to consider the veteran Star Trek director, Jonathan Frakes, for the job.

Several days later, Jonathan himself is responding and the answer is yes.

There’s nothing I would like better

During a radio interview for Komo News, Frakes admitted that he would be delighted and honored to take to the job.

“I’m all over it,” said Jonathan, “I would love that job. I’m trying to keep the lid on how excited I am about the possibility, knowing it’s such a long shot. But there’s nothing I would like better.”

The Man For The Job?

The ball seems to be in Paramount’s court, according to Frakes, since the director has already contacted the studio and is waiting for their response.

Frakes already has numerous episodes of “Next Generation”, “Voyager” and “Deep Space Nine” under his belt, and he was helped with bringing the Borg to the big screen with “Star Trek: First Contact,” which is said to be one of the greatest Star Trek films ever made.

On the other hand, Paramount actually might see the whole idea as a one huge step backwards, particularly if they take Frakes’ “Thunderbirds” into consideration, for the movie was quite a disaster.

Perhaps, it is best to wait for the official report from Paramount.
