For an action-packed series, the “Fast & Furious” movie franchise has been unexpectedly successful to say the least. From the first to the seventh installment, each movie gained more success that the previous as the cast welcomed, and unfortunately said goodbye to great actors.

And if popularity can be argued about, the numbers certainly don’t lie.

As Fox News reports, the franchise’s latest installment “Furious 7” was a box office hit earning $143.6 million in the U.S. But what is even more impressive is the diversity of the audience that went to watch the car chase flick.

According to statistics, 75% of the audience that watched “Furious 7” in its opening weekend was non-Caucasian. To be more precise, 37% was Hispanic, 24% African-American, 10% Asian, with 4% defined as “other.”

These facts can easily be consequences of “Furious 7’s” diverse casting choices. We have Vin Diesel as the protagonist, joined by Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodrigues, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Tony Jaa, Djimon Hounsou, and the late Paul Walker. The list of names goes on, and they all vary in race and nationality.

This probably isn’t the only reason behind the success of the franchise’s seventh installment, but it certainly made a huge impact on the audience.

That and the premature death of the young Paul Walker made fans of both “Fast & Furious” franchise and the deceased actor rush to the theater to check the movie out. All in all, the franchise made an impact on the action genre in many ways, and is sure to dish out at least several more movies.
