Massive Traffic Crashes Cinema Sites As Star Wars Tickets Go On Sale

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set to hit theaters on December 17 and advance tickets became available for sale on 19 October. Unprecedented demand has crashed the cinema websites with people taking to Twitter to voice their complains.

A Vue spokesman said they sold 10,000 tickets in 90 minutes without experiencing major difficulties, but Odeon and Picturehouse websites crashed due to major traffic.

Odeon spokesman said, “We’re seeing massive traffic to our website this morning as guests book ahead for Spectre and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

“We knew this morning would be very busy and did as much as we could to prepare. Thousands of guests have already successfully bought their tickets.

“There have been some booking delays in the initial peak, but our website is now returning to normal speed.”

Picturehouse spokesman Gabriel Swartland said, “We’re working on it, we’ve had an unprecedented demand for tickets.”

“We’ve had concurrent bookings in the thousands. On the plus side we already have sell outs. We expect it to calm down later in the day.”

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the most anticipated film of the year as it reunites Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher, the actors from the original trilogy.
