This film stars Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn, before either was famous, as Mike Peters and Trent Walker.
The movie is set in Hollywood, California during the swing revival that took place during the 1990s.
Starring in the film alongside Favreau and Vaughn are Ron Livingston (“Office Space”) and Heather Graham (“Boogie Nights”).
The film follows the twists and turns in the lives of a group of friends living on the eastside of Hollywood. Mike and Trent are best friends and unemployed actors struggling to establish careers in the film industry. Mike left a life in New York City (including a girlfriend) behind to pursue his dreams in Los Angeles.
Throughout the film, Mike’s straight-laced approach to his career and occasional bouts with depression clash with Trent’s desire to live life to the fullest and enjoy the party lifestyle LA has to offer.
This film helped define the concept of a cult classic. Though it was underappreciated when it was released, it has since been rated #57 by Bravo on the list of “100 Funniest Movies,” and was also honored at the 2007 Spike TV Guys’ Choice Awards.
