There aren’t many of us who like to see a blockbuster with a renowned movie star crash and burn at the box office. But “The Seventh Son” ignored all signs and managed to do just that. Actually, the movie failed so bad, nobody could’ve predicted it.
We can’t help but wonder why something that includes Jeff Bridges and Julianne Moore wasn’t advertised more. To answer that, we’ll have to backtrack to 2012, when Legendary Entertainment first started having troubles with this movie.
Even though “The Seventh Son’s” budget was around $92 million, we had to wait for almost 3 years for this blockbuster to come to life. That’s mostly due to the fact that Legendary’s visual effects partner went bankrupt while the movie was in production.
Bottom line, nobody was expecting great things out of “The Seventh Son,” but once you realize that even the “Spongebob” movie managed to stomp on this epic fantasy flick, you’ll understand why these numbers are a very bad sign for Universal and Legendary.
