The upcoming DC Comics movie “Suicide Squad” is kind of a strange inclusion to the company’s slate when you consider the other films that were announced around it. After all, it’s the only one that puts the spotlight on villains instead of heroes, and is the only “group” movie outside of the twin Justice League projects.
In an article profiling Ryan Gosling’s potential entry into the world of Hollywood franchises, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that he is just one of the big names that Warner Bros. is targeting for their “Suicide Squad” film.
Sources have told the trade that offers have been going out to the likes of Will Smith, Tom Hardy and Margot Robbie – though at this time there currently isn’t any information regarding what characters they might play.
Rumors have suggested that the team featured in the movie will include the likes of the expert assassin Deadshot, Vixen, Blockbuster, Multiplex, Jaculi, Mindboggler, and Harkness a.k.a. Captain Boomerang. Warners apparently had no comment on the matter.
Whether or not any of these actors will end up actually starring in “Suicide Squad” is anyone’s guess at this point, but one card they may have up their sleeve is writer/director David Ayer.
Over the years he has been able to attract top-notch actors to join his projects, and in his career as a director he has teamed with the likes of Brad Pitt, Jake Gyllenhaal, Keanu Reeves and Christian Bale.
