This year, however, there’s a new edge to the whole event in the form of the recent racism controversy.
Some stars have spoken against the majority of white nominees this year, and the Academy members replied. Now, Danny DeVito has something to say about the situation.
While doing an interview at the Sundance Film Festival, the actor commented: “It’s unfortunate that the entire country is a racist country. Even though some people have given really great performances in movies, they weren’t even thought about. We’re living in a country that discriminates, and has certain racist tendencies.”
Although it may be a blunt statement, DeVito laid out some pretty straightforward facts. Perhaps this will be the wake-up call for all those who claim that there is no racism nowadays.
