Perhaps that is why the Academy didn’t award Tim Curry’s brilliantly creepy performance in this unmatchable cult classic.
However, “Rocky” has everything that a great film needs, from the unique and memorable characters that start the film with a bang, to the interesting sets and bizarre plot twists that bring it to a surprising end.
There are only a handful of explicit scenes in the middle (although that may depend on your definition of a handful), and a guest appearance by the musician and actor Meatloaf.
It even won a spot in the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror Films Hall of Fame. While Tim Curry may not be on most people’s top 20 favorite actors list, he is undeniably brilliant in “Rocky,” and deserved an award for this well-known picture show, even if for no other work.
If you want to watch “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” which everyone should do at least once in their lives, go to a public viewing; the experience will be worth it.
