Jackie Chan is definitely back in business. After it was announced that he will be returning for another Shanghai Dawn film (a third installment, in fact), he’s now making headlines due to him taking on the lead role in The Foreigner, a new action thriller movie.
If that sounds like something you’ve heard before, it’s because the movie will be an adaptation of Stephen Leather’s 1992 novel, The Chinaman.
Oh, and probably because it’s a very common plot in the recent… forever. That doesn’t mean it’s not going to be good, though.
The movie will be directed by Nick Cassavetes, while David Marconi has adapted the novel for the big screen. If anything, this will be a minor, exciting challenge for Cassavetes, who never actually worked on a blend of fight scenes and feelings before. The director is best known for his work on The Other Woman, My Sister’s Keeper and The Notebook. He can always ask Chan for advice, since the Hollywood A-lister is anything but new to the genre.
In the meantime, Jackie Chan has a whole array of feature films just waiting to be released, like Railroad Tigers, Kung Fu Panda 3, Skiptrace and Dragon Blade.
