We all know that Kevin Feige has a master plan when it comes to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Considering he has a chart that takes the filmmaking powerhouse that is Marvel Studio to 2028, it’s safe to assume that he has a good idea of what’s coming down the pike.
Apparently his plan isn’t as immune to fan requests as we thought. However, as he recently admitted he is listening to what the fans are asking for.
IGN recently sat down with Kevin Feige for an interview, and in that interview, he was probed specifically about whether Captain Marvel or Black Panther would be on the silver screen at any point in the foreseeable future.
With the precision of an Iron Man rocket, Feige addressed this head on. “They’re both characters that we like, that development work has been done, is continuing to be done on.”
Nicole Perlman’s interview with Time Magazine gave us that glimpse into the inner workings of Marvel’s writing pool. As such, we know that several characters are being or have been worked on outside of what’s been announced.
Considering Perlman’s tease about being offered projects that were more feminine before ultimately choosing “Guardians Of The Galaxy,” it’s fair to think there were probably conversations about Captain Marvel.
Also, seeing as Chadwick Boseman is casting himself as Black Panther, it wouldn’t be that shocking to hear that it’s been brewing for some time.
What might surprise you is how much priority fans are giving them according to Feige…
“It’s a question I get asked more than anything else. More than “Iron Man 4” and more than “The Avengers 3,” and that’s sorta the first time that’s really happened to us. So I think that makes a difference, that’s something we have to pay attention to.”
Fan reaction is something that there’s a lot of on the internet, and that’s also something that hasn’t escaped Feige’s gaze, as he also said the following in that same interview.
“I’ve always said we have our plan and it’s served us very well. There hasn’t been anything that has made us deviate or change from that based on an opinion, because opinions on line change, and they alter, and they’re based on sort of limited information they have to what’s going on behind the scenes.”
While it does sound like he’s still in “Ant-Man” damage control mode, Kevin Feige is guiding the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the right direction. Will Black Panther or Captain Marvel get the green light anytime soon?
We don’t know yet, but we’ll find out soon enough. In the meantime, you can start tweeting Kevin Feige about which characters you want to see next.
