The sequel sees John Jarratt reprise his role as Mick Taylor, a psychotic serial killer with a penchant for young backpackers.
The original movie saw two female tourists brutally hunted down and slaughtered by a seemingly unstoppable killer.
“Wolf Creek 2” opens with two German backpackers taking the incredibly unfortunate decision to camp close to Wolf Creek Crater.
After spotting their tent, Mick soon makes an appearance and offers to drive the couple out of the park as camping is forbidden. The couple politely refuse Mick’s offer, but end up suffering at the hands of the sadistic killer anyway.
The films are inspired by real life events that shocked the world during the 70s. Ivan Milat was convicted of the murders of seven backpackers in New South Wales, Australia. The victims were from various parts of the world including Germany, Britain and Australia.
In 2001, a British couple were travelling through the Australian Outback when a stranger flagged down their vehicle to inform them of a problem with their engine. The stranger was later identified as Bradley John Murdoch and was convicted of the murder of Peter Falconio and the assault of his girlfriend Joanne Lees.
This Australian-set survival horror film will be released on February 20, 2014.
