“Sex and the City” may live again. Jennifer Hudson made some comments recently that indicate that another sequel to the films may be in the works. It may be safe to file this one under tentative, for the time being, but from what Hudson says, there’s been talk of another movie.
According to MTV, Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson recently told Dish Nation that she thinks another “Sex and the City” movie might be happening. “Somebody just came to me talking about that,” she said, not specifying who brought the topic up. “So if it’s in the talks, it might happen. So look for it.”
The first “Sex and the City” film was one of Jennifer Hudson’s first feature film credits. Of course, the former American Idol contestant had already bagged herself an Academy Award for “Dreamgirls” by the time we saw her as Louise from St. Louis in “Sex and the City.”
Does “Sex and the City” need another sequel? We could argue that it didn’t really need the second one, especially given how nicely the 2008 film wrapped up the story.
As great as the characters are, we’d rather they let the story rest, especially if the next followup involves another scenario involving Carrie and Big’s relationship on the verge of collapse.
There was also the short-lived “Sex and the City” prequel series, which aired on the CW. Like the original series, “The Carrie Diaries” was based on the writings of Candace Bushnell. “The Carrie Diaries” aired for two seasons before being cancelled earlier this year.
So perhaps the appetite for more Carrie Bradshaw is on the rise, in which case, a sequel may be just the ticket.
