After a giant battle axe action packed fight at the top of the American Box Office during the Christmas holidays, Peter Jackson’s “The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies” managed to stay atop.
Jackson’s third journey through J.R.R. Tolkien’s masterpiece “The Hobbit” topped the US box-office charts for the third week in a row, as it has now passed $220 million in the States and has earned more than the staggering $722.8 million around the globe.
Rob Marshall’s fantasy, adventure comedy “Into The Woods” is only in the charts for two weeks now, however, it stayed in second place with $19 million, reaching the current US total of more than $91.2 million, while Angelina Jolie’s real life story “Unbroken” stayed in third place with $18.3 million.
Although this scary movie encountered some seriously mixed reviews, it managed to open with $15.1 million on their bank account and seal the fourth position.
“Night At The Museum: Secret Of The Tomb” came in fifth with $14.4 million, while Will Gluck’s family comedy/drama “Annie” fell to the sixth with $11.4 million.
“The Imitation Game” is at lucky number Slevin, sorry, seven – with $8.1 million and the movie has now passed $30.8 million total.
Eight position is reserved for “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1” earning $7.7 million, while Rupert Wyatt’s crime drama “The Gambler” wasn’t that lucky and fell to ninth with $6.3 million.
Sealed at the 10th position is “Big Hero 6,” which is actually pretty nice score given that the movie managed to stay in the top ten despite being on release for over nine weeks.
