Ridley Scott definitely continues to show his commitment to his new realistic sci-fi project “The Martian.”

Namely, Scott sent a page from “The Martian” into space via NASA’s Orion spacecraft. The very first page of Simon Kinberg’s original draft that went celestial shows Scott’s drawing of a stranded astronaut who is saying that he’ll science the shit out of this planet.

The line was taken from the book by Andy Weir upon which “The Martian” is based.

Really Great Moment for us

Orion took off on December 5th taking the page on a four-and-a-half hour orbital flight, 5600 miles above our planet.

Executive producer, Aditya Sood, said that “NASA really rolled out the red carpet for us. In the capsule they had some personal objects that were important to people involved in the Orion project and one of the things was Ridley’s drawing on the cover page of The Martian script.”

“This is a movie about people who are really passionate about science and space-travel, so that was a really great moment for us,” Sood explained.

What is The Martian All About?

The story is based on Andy Weir’s novel published in 2012, and the movie will focus on Matt Damon’s character, astronaut Watney who is a part of a science team conducting experiments on the red planet.

The team encounters a storm and is forced to evacuate, with Watney injured and presumed dead, and ultimately left behind with little hope of rescue. With limited resources he manages to survive by using the power of science to keep himself alive on this harsh planet.

Release date is set for November 2015.
