2. I ♥ Huckabees (2004)
Comedies can definitely be a hit or miss for any studio and it’s a shame I ♥ Huckabees did as poorly at the box office as it did, given that it’s twisted witty humor deserved more.
Be the case as it may, this film is still a diamond in the rough despite the fact that it made only $12.8 million and had a $20 million budget.
The studio must have been disappointed, but director David O Russell certainly won over the crowd with The Fighter, Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle following the disappointment that was I ♥ Huckabees.
Although the film had an eclectic cast consisting of Jude Law, Mark Wahlberg, Dustin Hoffman, Lily Tomlin, Jason Schwartzman, Naomi Watts, and Isabelle Huppert it failed to translate into a joyful walk to the bank. We don’t mind.
The film’s intellectual humor and comic tone coupled with a to-die-for cast did translate into a decent film that deserves a spot on our list.
