7. Ali (2001)

Ali explored the life of heavyweight boxing champion from 1964-1974 and although it wasn’t a total flop it still didn’t even break even at the box office despite the fact that it stared Will Smith, who was extremely hot at the time. Or so the producers thought.

The film had a $102 million budget and managed to bank only $87.7 million worldwide but it most definitely deserved better.

Ali saw director Michael Mann make a film with plenty of heart, passion and character, and Smith gave a stellar performance as Cassius Clay fighting for his causes.

Ali might be a slightly slow moving film, but it’s got plenty of drama which brings to life the controversial and popular Muhammad Ali.
