The film stars Winona Ryder and Christian Slater as teenagers who hate the popular clique of girls – all conveniently named “Heather” at an Ohio high school.
An earlier, darker “Mean Girls,” “Heathers” sees Ryder and Slater killing off their classmates, sometimes by pseudo-accident (Christian Slater writes a mean faux suicide note).
What’s weird about the film is that two of its characters utter lines in the movie that oddly predicted their deaths. The first instance is Jeremy Applegate, whose role is high schooler Peter Dawson who prays in the film that he will never commit suicide like his classmates were seemingly doing. However, in 2000, Dawson committed suicide by shooting himself with a shotgun.
Even stranger is the case of Kim Walker, the actress who played lead “Heather” Heather Chandler. In the movie, she utters the line “Did you have a brain tumor for breakfast?” Thirteen years later, in 2001, Chandler died of a brain tumor. We hope no one else said any creepy things in this movie because chances are they could be cursed too.
