First mistake. They also name him Damien, which sounds equally as ominous. Second mistake. A lot of bad things happen to all the people around Damien that echo Biblical omens, but that isn’t why this movie’s cursed (or maybe it is).
Perhaps it was because Damien in the movie is the antichrist, and a lot of scary stuff happened during and after the movie that gives us the chills.
You ready for this? Making the movie was one bad episode after another. Both Peck’s and the producers’ planes were struck by lightning while traveling to England. Also, the producers had chartered a plane to take aerial shots, but switched the planes at the last minute. The original plane crashed and killed all the passengers within. Then, one of the animal handlers on the movie was attacked and eaten by lions… lions. Scary.
Another of the characters in “The Omen” was decapitated in the movie. The stunt coordinator who arranged the scene was traveling near Ommen in the Netherlands when his traveling companion was decapitated in a terrible traffic accident. And, the even creepier thing was that they were 66.6 miles away from the city. The moral of this story is to avoid being involved in any future remakes of “The Omen.” It’s definitely cursed.
