When her mother is murdered by a government faction that wants to take the fire-starting kid and make her into the ultimate weapon, the kid takes off on the run with her father. Barrymore plays a convincing little firestarter and the plot is naturally brimming with explosions.
The child, creepy though she may be, finally has to take matters into her own hands to win her freedom. Having lost nearly everything, she leaves a trail of destruction behind her. Released in 1984, this movie makes for an exciting event. It also showcases just how versatile King’s stories really are.
