8. Is Trial By Combat Still Legal?

Trail by combat is a Germanic practice in which opponents decide whether the accused is guilty or innocent by fighting to the death.

In the first trail of combat of Tyrion Lannister, he is acquitted when Bronn wins for him.

In the second instance, Tyrion Lannister demands trial by combat to prove his innocence but this time he gets sentenced to death.

Trial by combat was last seen in Britain in 1818, but interestingly enough a man by the name of Leon Humphreys from England demanded one in 2002 after failing to pay a £25 parking fine.

Leon Humphreys was a 60-year-old unemployed mechanic at the time who challenged the DVLA to provide “a champion for the fight to the death”, but the court rejected his attempt to invoke this ancient right.
