The Watergate scandal was the beginning of the end of his Presidency for President of the United States Richard Nixon.
Investigative journalists Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, who work for the Washington Post, began investigating for a story that only seemed to get bigger the more they looked. The National Democratic Party Headquarters, housed in the Watergate Building, was broken into by five men on June 17, 1972.
Woodward and Bernstein were assigned the break-in story, and not much was expected out of the investigation. They quickly learn that the five men have very high powered lawyers and they get suspicious that something is up. They find a source, the infamous “Deep Throat”, who was identified many years later as Deputy Director of the FBI Mark Felt.
