The X-Files will soon return for another 10-episode season event, but should the fans of this cult show truly be happy about all this?
After the previous season ended on a cliffhanger, this news doesn’t actually come as a huge surprise. The word on the street is that Fox has ordered a new event series season of The X-Files that will probably air during the first half of 2018.
As Deadline reports, Fox announced that season 11 is in the works, featuring both lead stars, Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny, while the series creator Chris Carter is also expected to soon come on board.
Recently, the Fox Broadcasting Company president David Madden issued an official statement about the continuing of The X-Files. Here’s what he had to say:
“Chris’ creativity, along with the brilliant work of David and Gillian, continue to propel this pop culture phenomenon, and we can’t wait to see what fresh mysteries Mulder and Scully uncover in this next chapter of The X-Files.”
The X-Files returned last time with an unexpected six-episode season, and despite causing a huge ratings success for the network, the feelings were a bit divided when it comes to fans.
Naturally, coming back to television and into our lives after fourteen years is no joke and the expectations were pretty high, but the big return of our beloved Mulder and Scully left X-Files fans ambivalent at best.
According to The Nerdist: “season 10 featured quite a significant retcon to the overall mythology of the series in the six part event series that didn’t sit well with a lot of the fanbase.”
However, the 10th season did have its brilliant moments, so not looking forward to the upcoming season 11 would be borderline crazy. We are sure that this magnificent cast and crew can still produce great television.
The production of The X-Files season 11 is scheduled to start this summer.
