Those fans obviously haven’t figured out that Marvel loves post-credit reveals.
If you stayed to watch the credits, then you know about the scene that took place within the last 2 minutes of the movie.
It features a boy of about 18 years of age with grey skin and blue lips apparently assembling the pyramids with 4 mysterious figures on horse-back in the background. Enter Apocalypse.
Even before the release of DOFP, X-Men: Apocalypse was announced for release in 2016. Based on what little we know, the primary antagonist will be Apocalypse, also known as “En Sabah Nur”, or “The First One”. Apocalypse, as both of his names suggest, is the first ever mutant born on Earth, and is a being possessed of great power and thirst for destruction.
Possessing multiple abilities, including unprecedented telekinesis, as well as super strength, the ability to fly, near indestructible regeneration abilities, and complete control over his molecular structure, Apocalypse is set up to be the most horrific X-Men villain yet.
Bryan Singer, director of the X-Men movie released in 2000, has announced that Apocalypse will not be another X-Men spin-off, but rather a true sequel to DOFP and X-men: First Class. This means that the younger version of the X-Men characters will be the main protagonists in the film.
Singer states that the sequel will be “unlike any superhero movie ever made”, meaning that it will feature an extinction-level event in the form of Apocalypse returning, and all the mutant combat action to go along with it.
